Sunrise-2011-japan

Sunrise 2011 is a collaborative work of art that I created and am curating. In the wake of the Japanese earthquake, I invite everybody to participate in this artistic tribute to Japan by e-mailing a photo of the sun over their city to sunrise2011art@gmail.com. I am collecting suns from around the world and building one big global sun (see below). Superimposed onto the sun is my painting of Japan's Sun Goddess, Amaterasu 天照, the Mother of Japan. Sunrise 2011 is a tribute to international solidarity with Japan after the tragic earthquake, and to the enduring Japanese spirit. To learn more, please visit:

http://www.Sunrise2011.com

Thank you to everyone already who has sent in beautiful suns from New York to Cairo, from Malibu to London, and from Japan on the day after the quake and the day of the quake.

@RoysRoy Roy Yamaguchi's Aquarium in Newport Beach

I always enjoy visiting a Roy's restaurant. There are over 30 Roy's around the world and the quality of the ones I've been to has been excellent.

Awhile back, I painted Chef Roy and have enjoyed his cuisine over the years. My Sumi-e portrait of Roy was commissioned by winemaker Jim Clendenen of Au Bon Climat to celebrate the 9th anniversary of Roy's. The label was featured on Jim's "Roy's Ninth Anniversary Celebration Pinot Noir."

If you are close to a Roy's restaurant I highly recommend his Misoyaki butterfish!

Multi-camera Livecast of Moonalice Rocks Moe's Santa Cruz

We popped over to Santa Cruz to watch the Moonalice band perform at Moe's in Santa Cruz.   The tech team was working to create a multi-camera livecast that could be shared with all the fans who weren't there.  For those who were, it was a wonderfully intimate venue.  The Chubby Wombat shared an original composition that the audience got a kick out of.  Moe's is a historic venue with many great artists who have performed there.  I like the steps, which are made to look like piano keys.

Soft Belly Meditation @ the Urban Zen Foundation in NYC

Dr. Gordon speaking eloquently about the power of soft belly meditation, and the importance of emptying one's cup. "What they dont teach you in medical school: Medicene and meditation come from the same Sanskrit word --meaning to take measure of and care for---the art and the science."

If you don't have John Hagel's books, run don't walk to your bookstore, or just go to Amazon.  He is a true internet and business strategy guru, advising many of the top companies in the Valley and beyond on how to leverage their informational assets and positioning.  And he has the cutest dog, Shu Shu!
